Description
India’s higher education system is experiencing a decisive shift toward flexibility, employability, and technology-enabled learning. The 2025 report highlights how NEP 2020 is catalysing reforms that promote multidisciplinary pathways, multiple entry–exit options, digital learning, and outcome-based education. Institutions now face the dual challenge of scaling enrolments—targeting 86.11 million learners by 2035—while ensuring quality, relevance, and faculty readiness.
Roundtable insights reveal that HEIs must strengthen skill assessment, industry collaboration, and personalised learning through micro-credentials, AI-enabled evaluation, and apprenticeship-driven models. Case studies from ISB, BITS Pilani, Panjab University, LPU, MRIIRS and others demonstrate successful adoption of innovative pedagogy, flexible credit systems, research-linked learning, and global collaborations.
The report concludes that future-ready HEIs will be agile, digital-first, student-centric, industry-aligned, and financially sustainable—integrating governance reforms, smart campuses, faculty development, and community engagement to meet the demands of a fast-changing world.
